Privacy policy
In short: Covenant Chess has no accounts and no analytics, and we don't run servers that collect anything about you. Your progress is kept on your phone and, on iPhone, in your own iCloud. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which asks for your consent where the law requires it, and purchases (Remove ads and lamp oil packs) go through Apple's App Store or Google Play, with RevenueCat checking them. We don't sell your data.
Who we are
Covenant Chess is made by Nineveh Studios (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question, write to support@ninevehstudios.com.
What the game keeps, and where
- Your progress and settings (puzzles solved and their crowns, lamp oil, your title, Daily Puzzle results and streak, which tips you've seen, sound and vibration settings, and whether you bought Remove ads, how many ads for oil you watched today) are saved on your phone.
- On iPhone, a copy in your iCloud. The same save is copied to your iCloud account (Apple's iCloud key-value storage), so your progress and unspent lamp oil survive deleting the app and move to a new iPhone with the same Apple ID. It's stored by Apple in your account; we can't see it. If you're not signed in to iCloud, or iCloud is off for Covenant Chess, nothing leaves your phone.
- If you back up your phone (iCloud Backup or a computer on iPhone; Android's own backup on Android), that backup may include the game's save, stored by Apple or Google in your account. We can't see it.
- Deleting the app deletes the save on your phone; on iPhone the iCloud copy brings it back when you install the game again.
- We don't collect your name, email, contacts, photos or precise location, and there's no sign-in.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows an occasional ad between levels, and a short ad for lamp oil when you choose to watch one, both served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, prevent fraud and limit how often you see them, Google may collect:
- device identifiers: on iPhone, Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking when iOS asks, otherwise an identifier limited to our apps; on Android, the Android advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in your phone's settings;
- your IP address and the approximate location that comes from it;
- device and app information (model, operating system version, language) and how you interact with ads.
Your choices. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent message asks before personalised ads are shown; you can change your answer any time in the game's Settings → Privacy choices. On iPhone, Apple's “Allow to track” question controls the advertising identifier; you can change it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Ads may still show without consent, just not personalised.
Buying Remove ads stops the ads between levels for good; the ads for lamp oil stay available only if you choose to watch them.

Purchases (Apple, Google Play and RevenueCat)
Remove ads and lamp oil packs are bought and paid through Apple's App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to confirm purchases with the store and to restore Remove ads on a new phone. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, random app user ID, your purchase and transaction records, and basic device and app information. See RevenueCat's privacy policy, Apple's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.
Sharing a result
When you share a result, you choose where it goes through your phone's share sheet. The message contains only the puzzle and your result (crowns, and your streak for the Daily Puzzle), nothing about you.

These providers may process data in the United States and other countries, under their own safeguards. We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for any other purpose.
Children
Covenant Chess is a general-audience game and isn't directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child's information was collected, contact us and we'll help.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, or to object to or withdraw consent for its use. Because we don't keep personal information on our own servers, most requests are handled through the choices above, or with Google or RevenueCat directly, and we're happy to help with any of it at support@ninevehstudios.com. Where the GDPR applies, personalised ads rely on your consent, and ad measurement and fraud prevention on legitimate interests.
Keeping it and deleting it
Your save stays on your phone until you delete the app, in your iCloud until you remove it from your iCloud storage (iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage), and in your phone's backups until you delete them. Ad and purchase records are kept by Google and RevenueCat under their policies.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date above.
